What Makes You Believe in Something?

I repeated affirmations for years, believing they could help me achieve what I wanted. Looking back, I started questioning why I believed in them in the first place. What makes us believe in something?

#self-help #affirmations

Introduction

My friend read "Power of your subconscious mind" months ago. Whenever he had free time he always visualize his success, fancy cars, Rolex watch.
Rich lifestyle was definition of success in his mind.

But, there is no reliable scientific evidence that thinking about something can directly make external events happen without ordinary causal mechanisms.

It's not I am against it.

I remembered, how I speak 10 mins long speech every morning in name of affirmations.

I always start with, I am a trillionaire.

Notice, I am just saying myself that, I must be trillionaire otherwise I won't be happy.

When I look back, I think I was stupid.

But I repeated this same speech for years.

Whatever, question is does that help me to gain what I wanted?

In literal terms, I wanted to score good marks in exams, to become stronger day by day.

That also includes in affirmations and I did it.

But most of the things like wanted to be trillionaire or else... Didn't came true.

I am not here to say, you should remove it.

What Makes You Believe It Works?

My question is, what exactly makes you believe that it can work?

Seriously, if someone tomorrow says a shit do you follow it without questioning it?

From the book itself it has taken many examples of successful people.

So, taking examples make you believe in that?

There is no scientific evidence or neither your brain has a part to change the future.

You Only Have Today

You only have today. To work on. That only increase the probability to get what you wanted. But there is no way guaranteed.

As in the book, "Psychology of Money" said there are luck and risk factors affecting on us. There are many things out of our control, that can potentially shape our entire future.

Final Question

Just think about it, what makes you believe in something?

You can believe in whatever you want.

But have you ever stopped and asked yourself why you believe it?
