How I learned to stop overthinking

I tried to control my thoughts and it backfired, instead I learn to ignore them.

#self-help #overthinking #controlthoughts

Have you ever found yourself imagining a fantasy world where you are the hero. Or Thinking about your future success every morning? If yes, Don't worry about it, its not you. It's us.

I have already experience this for years. But I won't say it is bad.
It's common with all of us. But if I spend more time on thinking then action, then it is definitely not good for me.
I don't want to waste my life thinking in dreams rather than living it.

Ofcourse, who wants this kind of hell.

How we can actually control it? How to stop overthinking. And How much time it required to completely stop it?

Before it, why you should control it?

Why?

ofcourse wasting time is the thing. But If I enjoy doing it & I am satisfied with it, I will probably ignore it rather than eliminating.

But as humans we tend to overthink.

Recently, I was encounter with a Bat & for some days I was overthinking a lot, that If I get rabies or something else...

Even though it only touched me, I was thinking hypothetical situations that never occurred in real life. After 4 days I ended up seeking medical advice.

The major problem? I just wasted entire 4 days of my life thinking about something that might never happened.
More than wasting time, I was making myself afraid. And out of my mind I ended up watching Anime throughout the day. And then typical crash followed by another dopamine hit.

How to control it?

As Darius Foroux said in their book think straight,

we are what we think.

That might be correct, but we don't have to trust it blindly either. I also think "we are what we think" but not completely.
That's my point of view.

So, you are going to do what? Change your thoughts or control yourself even harder?
This is not going to work definitely.

So, how to control this kind of thoughts?

First let me ask you, "who said to control it?"

you & me only have to make sure that it doesn't interrupt our work, relationships & happiness. Other thing doesn't matter.

Only thing we can do is, acknowledge it and then let it go. when you do this repeatedly you will train your brain to ignore these kinds of thoughts & just move back to work.

This is what I am doing from past several days. I would not say I have stopped daydreaming or overthinking completely, but it won't interfere with my life.

I started to live in present, feel the air around me.

More importantly if you don't trust me, you can try to control your thoughts. When I tried it's just backfired.

Rather than control, I trained by brain to acknowledge it & then ignore.

Now I look at facts before jumping to conclusions.

Think Simple

That's why if you also want to do it you must have to train your brain to do so.

Before as I said, I was addicted to Anime.
So, I tried 48 hours dopamine detox which is quite popular now.
By the way I am not promoting, if you have time, you can read 48-hours Dopamine detox
