Why I Try Not to Miss a Day of Exercise

I've noticed that when I go more than a day without exercising, my energy and mood seem to drop. Here's why I try to keep some form of physical activity in my daily routine, even when I don't feel like doing a full workout.

I noticed a very strange thing. When I don't do exercise for more than 1 day straight, my entire energy and mood crashes.

It's not a dramatic crash.

As much as I remember, it's quite common for me.

The Science Behind It

When I tried to study why it happens, I found that something more fascinating.

Research suggests exercise helps regulate mood. On a missed day, we also miss a familiar boost.

A systematic review of 19 studies found that stopping regular exercise was associated with increased depression symptoms and anxiety.

Maintaining Consistency

So, I always try that I never miss an exercise day. But I still don't push hard every day so that I can maintain consistency over a short motivational spike. I also take breaks to get my muscles rest and recover best.

As consistency is way more important than some motivational spike on every evening.

I remembered how I learned to never rely on motivation. You can read my article on it, Practical ways to get your motivation back
